Autumn Floods in Hampton-in-Arden

WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE FOR HAMPTON IN ARDEN!

Thank you for visiting the Hampton in Arden website which includes information about the village, events and services and which is sponsored by the Parish Council.

Please use the links on the left hand side of the page to easily navigate around the site and we hope that you find the information useful and readily available. Please remember to visit this site frequently as the information will be regularly updated.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN

Our application to Solihull Council to be designated a "Neighbourhood Area" has been deferred by them while they consider the position of Catherine de Barnes, of which part is within the parish of Hampton. We are awaiting a further response by 13th June 2103 after further discussion. This will be a lengthy process and will involve full consultation with all residents, businesses, community groups, farms etc. A final draft will then need to be approved by way of a local referendum. Please take part in the consultation stage when invited to do so that you may play your part in shaping the future of the village.

HAMPTON FESTIVAL

As you will all be aware, the Hampton Festival is almost here! Bring on the sunshine! On Saturday 1st June at 11am the Village Fete will be opened with lots of stalls and games to participate in. The WI will be holding their produce and cake competition in the Scout Hut and will be selling delicious home made cakes and tea and coffee. Raffle tickets will be available to buy over the whole weekend with fabulous prizes up for grabs. In the evening of Saturday 1st June, there will be a concert performed by the AD concert Band in a "last night of the Proms" style. Tickets are available from Committee members and from the local shops priced at £7.50 for adults and children are free. Please bring your own food, chairs etc and enjoy a lovely evening.

On Sunday 2nd June 2013, Duncan Ballard, the Vicar, will perform and Open Air Church Service at 11am which will be followed by the Big Lunch from 12.30pm. Again, bring your own food and tables and chairs and take part. Last year, across the UK, 8.5million people participated in the Big Lunch to enhance our community spirit so please come down to the Sports Ground for the event. There is no charge for the events on Sunday. The entire Festival will take place on the Sports Ground and the bar at the Sports Club will be open all weekend!

UPDATE ON PROJECT PLAYGROUND

The efforts of the PTA to raise the funds for the improvements to the playground at George Fentham School continue and following their incredible work over Christmas with the School Fair and the Panto, the next stage of the project is being carried out. The outdoor stage and classroom are being fitted during the May half term with the sunshade being fitted afterwards. This will bring a new dimension to the teaching with the children being able to have lessons outside which has been shown to improve their learning experience. Please continue to support the PTA as they move on to raising funds for the next stage in their plans.

VILLAGE DIARY

I mention this again as it is still being underused by the organisations in the village. At the moment, the Hampton Players get a gold star as they have information on the diary until the end of 2013! The village diary is free to use and should mean that there is no double booking of events in the village. If you have a forthcoming event, please contact Julie at the Parish Office on 01675 442017 or email her at clerk@hamptoninarden.org.uk. The website is used and has thousands of hits each month so think of the free publicity your event could be enjoying!

PARISH COUNCIL

Just to remind you all that we are working to try to ensure that issues important to you are considered and managed so if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact any of your Councillors or the Parish office. We are here to help so do get in touch.

HS2

Please note that the provisional date for the consultation meeting at Fentham Hall has been changed to 5th June 2013. Please put this date in your diary now so that you are available to attend so that you may see what is involved and have your voice heard.

The current position is that detailed plans are being announced for the Berkswell/Balsall Common to Hampton route and the new interchange station behind Stonebridge. A sizeable office/work camp is planned to be sited between Stonebridge and Meriden roundabouts with further discussions needed on the issue of the effect on the "Island Project". We are in discussions with HS2 regarding the avoidance of works traffic through the village.

It is clear that the Meriden Road would be diverted being Diddington Lane which would, itself, be closed to through traffic. The A45 and Kenilworth Road would be subject to major disruption for some years should the scheme be approved by Parliament in 2015. The consultation process is to be rerun by the Government and the Parish Council will be pressing for full and fair compensation.

GET FIT!

Fresh Air Fitness

The new outdoor gym equipment has now been officially opened by the Mayor and, if the weather ever improves, please do use it! A big thank you to all those who worked so hard to make the official launch so successful and over £400 was raised to be divided between the Skylark and the PTA. Well done all involved!

BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT

As a result of the numerous concerns voiced locally, the consultation process has been extended to 17th May 2013. This gives you the opportunity to have your say about the changes which are proposed. There is now a new proposal so please go to the webpage on http:www.birminghamairport.co.uk/meta/about-us/airspace-consultation-departures-additional.aspx and make your comments known. You may contact the Airport with your views on airspace@birminghamairport.co.uk or write to Airspace Change Process (Runway 15), Birmingham Airport, Diamond House, Birmingham, B26 3QJ.

CHANGES TO BUS SERVICES

Following the recent transport survey, changes to hampton bus services are due to come into effect on 9th June 2013. Centro are finalising the timetables and routes. These should now be available on their website of www.networkwestmidlands.com/

Please take some time to view all areas of the site and let us know how we may improve the service which we are providing. Remember, please advise us of your forthcoming events for the village diary.
